Puzzler 02: November 2003. Next Puzzler: January 2004
Every couple of months we advertise in the Victoria magazine, Boulevard. Lately, we have been putting our ads out in the form of interesting, brain-teasing, puzzles. We do this mainly to attract the attention of the readers, and possibly lead them to our web site, but also just for fun enquiring minds out there! Have fun (^_^)

THE ANSWER:
Since the opposite sides of a rectangle are equal, the unmarked part of the top line must be 9 cm. So, the total length of the top line - which is also a radius of the quarter circle - is 18 cm. But one of the equal diagonals of the rectangle is also a radius of the quarter circle. So the beetles' noses are 18 cm apart.
